As part of my graduate MFA thesis, I am recreating a part of the historic Jewish Quarter of prewar Warsaw, the same Jewish Quarter that would eventually be walled off and later destroyed. Nalewki Street was one of the busiest commercial and residential streets of this area and is referred to as the beating heart of Jewish Warsaw, as 9 out of 10 residents were Jewish and the street boasted a unique and vibrant Jewish culture.
This specific tram - rolling stock no. 361 in Warsaw, wagon type F, manufactured in 1929 by Lilpop, Rau & Loewenstein, running the Line no. 14 route - passed through Nalewki Street, evidenced by route maps, rolling stock records, and a couple photographs. I recreated it for my thesis that will be hosted in VR - viewers can observe Nalewki Street from inside this tram as it travels down the street on the route it would have taken circa 1939.
Modeled and UV'd in Maya, textured in Substance Painter, rendered in Marmoset Toolbag 4. A second UV set was made for sufficient lightmap UVs for when the asset will be in UE4 for the whole street scene and VR application.
